The Ancient Spanish Monastery is located at 16711 West Dixie Highway in North Miami Beach Area.
Originally the structure of the Spanish Monastery was build in the year 1133 in Sacramenia, near Segovia in Northern Spain. Cistercian Monks occupied the Monastery for nearly 700 years.
After 1830 the Monastery’s Cloisters were seized, sold and converted into a granary and stable.
In 1925 William Randolph Hearst purchased the Monastery and the structures were dismantled stone by stone, protected, packed and shipped to the United State.
The massive crates remained in a warehouse until 1964 when Colonel Robert Pentland Jr purchased the cloisters and presented them to the Bishop of Florida. Today the Monastery is an active and growing congregation in the Episcopal Diocese of South Florida.
Without doubts the historical and well preserved and maintained Monastery and Cloisters will be a wonderful place for your celebration.
